Homeless animals have got their paws on Christmas goodies thanks to a generous donation.

The East of England Co-op presented cats and dogs at Suffolk’s Blue Cross centre in Wherstead with festive hampers filled with treats and toys.

Christian Bone, head of community engagement at the Co-op said: “We were greeted with some very waggy tails and enthusiastic purrs when we visited this week and were really happy to be able to bring the Blue Cross dogs and cats a little bit of festive cheer this winter.”

The rehoming centre moved to Wherstead in February from its previous site in Felixstowe, where it had been since the 1950s.
