A SUFFOLK dance teacher has today spoken of her pride as a group of pupils come to the end of a performance run in a professional pantomime.

The 16 pupils from Suffolk Academy of Dance and Performing Arts have been performing in Cinderella at the Ipswich Regent over the Christmas and New Year period.

Academy principal Louise Chapman said: “Working alongside the cast of professionals, many of whom have many years of experience on the stage, the children are more than holding their own.

“Every day they are dancing and singing their way through two shows.”

The youngsters feature in the song and dance number Mr Postman with Postman Pat and This Old House with the Baron, as well as an appearing as Dalmatians in the show.

Miss Chapman added: “They are also part of a very upbeat opening routine as well as having a number of other appearances in scenes such as the counting pantomime horse.

“It is an amazing experience for the students working with experienced performers such as Letitia Dean. They are learning so much and their confidence is growing by the day. I am very proud of all of them.”

From the start of the new term Alison Dormer, who plays Cinderella, will be coming to work with the students on a regular basis.

Miss Chapman added: “Alison has enjoyed working with the students over the past five weeks and been so impressed by their attitude and performance that she is keen to continue working with them.

“This will be a great opportunity for all of the students as Alison has performed in shows such as Chicago and has just finished four years in We Will Rock You in London's West End.”

Cinderella ends on Sunday January 6.
