South East Suffolk Magistrates' Court heard that trouble had been brewing between the two populations in Norwich Road during the evening of July 27.
Soran Hassan, 25, of Portman Road and Raza Aziz, 20, of Ransome Crescent were arrested for possessing offensive weapons.
Hassan, a food factory worker pleaded guilty to possessing a baseball bat. He was sentenced to a four month curfew between midnight and 7am and told to pay £60 costs.
District Judge David Cooper said: “There was trouble brewing between the Kurdish population and the Polish but this is a rubbish way to treat people to arm yourself and frighten people.
“We are a crowded little island and we have to get on with one another.”

Aziz pleaded not guilty to two charges of possessing offensive weapons namely table legs. His case was adjourned to October 13.
