A PHOTOGRAPH of a group of happy little faces, taken at St Mary's School, Woodbridge Road, Ipswich, from just over 60 years ago, was featured in a recent Kindred Spirits.
Peter Crawford of Borrowdale Drive, Norwich, was one of the pupils in the picture.
Peter said: “My sister June, who lives near Ipswich, forwarded the photograph from 1949 to me as I am the fifth pupil from the right, middle row.
“I am between Keith Currie, my best friend at the time, and Elaine Robinson. I cannot recall the photo being taken, but I especially remember Miss Spooner our teacher at the time.
“We lived in Parade Road, Ipswich, which was only a short distance from St Mary's School.
“Shortly after the photograph my parents were asked to find another school for my sister and I as we were not Catholics, so we moved to Sidegate Lane School, where we stayed until the eleven plus exams.”
