ONE of the region's leading businesses has announced it is to join the East of England Co-operative Society at Wherstead Park later this month.

P&O Ferrymasters will move into the business centre, located just off the A14 and close to the A12 on the outskirts of Ipswich, which was acquired from E.ON August 2008 as a multi-use site.

The facility offers a quality office complex providing a wide range of office suites surrounded by more than 17 acres of attractive landscaped grounds.

Co-op chief executive, Richard Samson, said: “We are delighted that P&O Ferrymasters will be joining us at Wherstead Park.

“The accommodation on site gives us considerable flexibility to accommodate our own business requirements and also provide excellent facilities for other organisations.”

The Co-op's move to Wherstead Park is expected to be completed by the end of February.

Bas Belder, P&O Ferrymasters' managing director, added: “P&O Ferrymasters has proud links with Ipswich dating back more than 30 years. This modern new office accommodation in an excellent location will enable us to continue that tradition.”

James Hehir, chief executive of Ipswich Borough Council, said: “The East of England Co-operative Society is to be congratulated on acquiring such a strategic site and this is a double win to have attracted P&O Ferrymasters to this site which I am sure will continue to be successful and help boost the Ipswich economy.”
