TRAFFIC disruption is anticipated in the Bucklesham Road and Felixstowe Road area of Ipswich due to a suspected collapsed sewer.
Anglian Water has decided not to dig down to repair the sewer until after the Suffolk Show as it is thought this would cause considerably more road disruption.
Temporary traffic management is in place and wastewater is being taken away via a manhole up-stream of the suspected collapse.
Dan Baker, spokesman for Anglian Water, said: “The sewer is some 20 feet deep and it is quite possible that attempting a repair may involve the closure of Bucklesham Road.
“This would obviously cause dreadful problems for the show, and we will therefore defer a decision on the best course of action until the show is over.
“We apologise for any disruption and would urge motorists to allow extra time for their journeys.”
