CANNON AND BALL

Spa Pavilion, Felixstowe

Saturday night.

THEY'VE been entertaining people for more than four decades.

Their friendship has stood the test of time and on Saturday night at Felixstowe's Spa Pavilion Tommy Cannon and Bobby Ball were once again on top form.

To describe their act as cutting edge would be unfair and to compare their brand of humour to the world of modern younger comics would be spurious.

What Cannon and Ball offer is family and friendly entertainment - they are clean.

They aren't rude, offensive, crude, acerbic or cruel and as a result their act is surprisingly refreshing.

As much a celebration of their friendship as a celebration of their comedy, their act consists of two distinct parts.

The traditional Cannon and Ball act followed by a second half selection of anecdotes and audience driven questions. And after 43 years together it's somehow charming and moving to see two gents so clearly enjoying themselves - and still making each other laugh.

Gone are the 18million strong television audiences and gone has the pressure - this was two old chums just having a great time.

The public affection for them is as deep as ever, their act works as well as it ever did, and the ovation proved it.
