The company apologised and said engineering works, performed over the Easter holiday, had overran.
There are major delays to trains to from Norwich to London.
Most of the trains are terminating at Ipswich or Colchester, National Express spokesman Jill Casswell said today.
“We are sorry. It is a Network Rail engineering issue,” she said.
The problems left Ipswich station overcrowded and many travellers waited at the station in the hope that travel conditions would improve.
“We would never turn people away but we have not got the room to put them all on the platform.”
