A PAEDOPHILE who downloaded more than 2,000 sexual images of children on to his computer has been jailed for ten months.

Peter Davies, 44, of Rendlesham Court, Bramford Road, Ipswich, pleaded guilty to 16 sample offences of making indecent photographs of a child under the age of 16 at South East Suffolk Magistrates' Court.

Appearing before Judge Neil McKittrick at Ipswich Crown Court, Davies was sentenced to ten months in prison for making indecent images of children.

He was sentenced to a further ten-month term, to run concurrently, for possession of an indecent photograph of a child.

At a hearing last month, it emerged that the images were made between March 2000 and February 2001.

Davies also admitted possessing images between 2000 and 2007.

Davies' computer was seized by police on March 8 this year.

A search discovered 2,249 sexual images of children at varying levels of indecency.

There were 1,958 sexual images at level one - the lowest level, 103 pictures at level two, 78 at level three, and 96 at level four.

There were also 14 at level five, the highest level, which show the greatest degrees of child abuse.

Davies has no previous record for similar offences.

He was made to sign the sex offenders' register.
