POLICE officers are today continuing their search for a young man who went missing after a night out in Chelmsford.

Adam Passfield was enjoying an evening out with footballing colleagues in the town centre on Friday, December 18 and was last seen by them at 3am on Saturday, December 19.

Police, family and friends have been trying to contact the 22-year-old man from Sharpington Close in Galleywood on his mobile telephone, but without response.

Yesterday marine unit officers joined in with the search scouring a stretch of the River Chelmer which flows through the town centre. CCTV footage shows Mr Passfield outside La Tasca in Backnang Square shortly after 2:30am.

On Sunday evening, officers began searching gardens and outbuildings as well as looking at Mr Passfield possible walking routes home. This search will resume again today, with marine unit officers also on the Chelmer again.

Investigating Officer, DI Stuart Truss, said: “People have begun calling us following the initial appeal in the local media and I would urge others to jog their memories and contact us. Residents in and around the town centre can also assist with our search by looking in their outbuildings or sheds just in case Adam has taken shelter there during this cold weather. Again, it is out of character for Adam not to have got in touch with his family so our concern mirrors theirs - very worrying.”

Mr Passfield is described as white, approximately six foot tall, of slim build, has short, straight brown hair and was wearing jeans, trainers and a red-chequered shirt with a black leather jacket.

Anyone with information in connection with this missing person enquiry is urged to contact detectives at Chelmsford police station on 0300 333 4444.
