A TRIBUTE night is being held to raise money in memory of young mum to be Michelle Bore.

Michelle was just 23 when she died at Ipswich Hospital last September and despite desperate attempts to save her, her unborn baby Katie Louise also died.

In November her devastated family paid tribute in the Evening Star to Michelle, who they described as "just amazing".

Following the article, her grieving boyfriend Rodney Sewell and father of Katie Louise, launched himself into organising the tribute night to raise money for the maternity unit who tried so hard to save the pair.

He said: "I have made a promise to myself that this is something I am going to do every year now."

The Evening Star donated £250 to the ward and readers also sent in donations, meaning that there is now more than £300 already in the pot.

Mr Sewell said he was hoping to raise around £2,000 so the ward could buy a piece of equipment in Michelle's name.

The tribute night is being held at Kesgrave community centre on June 7 and as well as live music from Alan Wade's Three Generations, there will be an auction and a 40 prize raffle to raise as much money as possible.

Football fans will be in their element as a signed Ipswich Town shirt is up for auction as well as a signed Ipswich Town football from the 2002/2003 season.

A signed picture of Sir Bobby Robson and a signed Arsenal first team pennant are can also be snapped up by the highest bidder.

Support has come in from everywhere for the tribute night and the Port of Felixstowe and Morton Management Services have donated a DVD player and cash as a donation to help out with the evening and towards the fund.

Tickets cost £5 for adults and £1 for children and each ticket will be numbered and entered into a prize draw.

They are available by calling Mr Sewell on 07876373692 or 01473 423508, Nigel at the John Bull pub on 01473 727675 or Andy Betts on 01473 718385.
