POLICE are today warning people to be alert after a conman tried to lie his way into four homes in Woodbridge.Yesterday afternoonbetween 3pm and 4pm the man, claiming to be from the council, said he was there to measure up for new doors and windows.

POLICE are today warning people to be alert after a conman tried to lie his way into four homes in Woodbridge.

Yesterday afternoonbetween 3pm and 4pm the man, claiming to be from the council, said he was there to measure up for new doors and windows.

Although he managed to get into all four houses nothing seems to have been stolen. But there was damage to the wardrobe of an 80-year-old woman.

Other people targeted were a 70-year-old man, a 75-year-old woman and an 88 year old woman.

The man is described as white, between 38 and 50-years-old and around 5ft 9in.

He is of stocky build and had short dark hair which was receding. He was wearing dark clothing and a luminous yellow sleeveless jacket.

Police are urging elderly and vulnerable people not to let anyone into their homes without checking identity.
