NATURE-lovers in Kesgrave are being urged to get in touch with their local conservation group.

Conservation Awareness in Kesgrave are looking to recruit new members to help them in their quest to brighten up the town.

Chairman Jork Andrews said: "We are keen to encourage as many people as possible to take a more active role in helping to preserve and enhance their local environment, and we would urge people to join us at our meeting tonight."

Now in its 14th year, the group has been responsible for initiating a number of environment-enhancing schemes around the town.

Many of the daffodils currently lighting up the town are the result of a vast planting programme undertaken by the group in conjunction with local school children.

Other CAIK projects include hedgerow surveys, putting up bat boxes and bird boxes, and helping out with a regeneration programme in Dobbs Wood.

Future plans include the introduction of nature trails and an information board in Dobbs Wood.

Mr Andrews said: "The continued house-building makes it ever more important that residents should set out to enhance the parts which are left and CAIK needs help to make that happen."

If you are interested in finding out more about the group's activities they will be holding their AGM at the Kesgrave cricket pavilion at 7.30pm tonight.
