Preliminary work to repair an Ipswich building deemed structurally unsafe has begun today.
The former Rose & Crown pub, now the Ipswich Kurdish Islamic Cultural Centre was considered structurally unsafe in November by independent structural engineers and scaffolding consultants, prompting health and safety bosses to seal off the property and close Bramford Road.
Today, preliminary work at the site has started at the rear part of the building.
A spokesman from Ipswich Borough Council said that health and safety teams had approved the appointment of the new contractors, and added: “We are looking forward to work getting underway and opening the road as soon as possible.”
