A POLICEMAN who claimed he had been shot by a masked man in Suffolk has withdrawn his statement, it was revealed today.A major investigation was launched after the cop reported that a gun sawn-off shot gun had been fired at him from a passenger in a white car on the B1117 near Stradbroke at around 9pm on March 12.

A major investigation was launched after the cop reported that a gun sawn-off shot gun had been fired at him from a passenger in a white car on the B1117 near Stradbroke at around 9pm on March 12.
Police today revealed they were no longer investigating the claim after the officer formally retracted his claim.
A spokesman said the cop has been suspended while internal disciplinary proceedings were considered.
The force has apologised for any inconvenience caused to residents of the area.
