The traffic lights at Copdock Interchange have been repaired – after being struck by lightning.
Suffolk police were told of the incident at 1pm and said the relevant authorities had been made aware.
Motorists were advised to approach the junction with caution while the issue was resolved.
A spokeswoman for Highways England said the lights had been reset at around 3.30pm and were now working as normal.
However there is still congestion in the area.
