An 83-year-old man has had his home broken into by a pair of burglars and his car set on fire.

Police were first called just before 2am today to the man’s house in London Road, Copdock.

The burglars broke into his house and threatened him before searching the property.

They then stole his white S-reg Vauxhall Corsa to make their escape. It was found burnt out in Belstead Road, Ipswich at 11.45pm on August 11, before the burglary had been reported.

The victim had to be taken to Ipswich hospital as a precautionary measure while a police presence remained at the house earlier today while an investigation was carried out.

Anyone who might have witnessed the incident or saw the car between Copdock and Belstead Road is asked to call Bury St Edmunds CID on 101.
