Students of Copleston Lower School held the 40th anniversary reunion at Bourne Vale Social Club, in Halifax Road, in memory of classmate Nick Fayers, who passed away in December 2017 after a battle with the rare inherited condition MEN1 (multiple endocrine neoplasia).

More than 100 people attended, including some who had travelled from as far as Menorca, West Wales and Kent.

A collection in Mr Fayers’ memory raised more than £250, with his wife Julie and daughter presented with the donation.

Ash Cook, one of organisers, said: “We are thrilled with how well the event went and the amount of people that attended.

“The feedback has been amazing. Everyone who attended said how good the event was and how they don’t want to wait 10 years till the next one.

“Those who couldn’t make it but have heard how good it was have been asking for another one to be organised – so watch this space.”
