FURTHER to a report in our sister paper, the East Anglian Daily Times, we would like to make it clear that the ULR Invitation Premier 7s tournament in Bury St Edmunds will be held on Sunday, May 3, and not Bank Holiday Monday as initially advertised.

Some of the leading sevens players in England and Wales will be playing at Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club for the inaugural Sevens event.

It is being billed as the highest profile event of its kind staged in the region this year.

The Wales 7s coaching team that coached Wales to the recent Rugby Sevens World Cup in Dubai will be at the event looking after the Welsh Warriors team.

The team will consist of current Welsh 7s team squad members as well as development players.

Also attending will be the England 7s coaching team of Ben Ryan and Russell Earnshaw, who will be looking after the St George 7s team. They will also use a mix of current England 7s and up and coming players.

The tournament will include a 'Big Day Out' wraparound event for families and general sports fans from the area who want to join in the action and atmosphere on the day and have some fun.

Mike Robinson from Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club said: “The fact that both the England and Wales coaches are fielding teams is a real coup for Bury and for all Suffolk rugby.

“Having such high quality international players coming to this event will mean that everyone in the area will have the chance to see the sort of action that you only normally see at major tournaments including the one staged in Hong Kong.”

Among the 16 top sides from around the country participating in the tournament are Northampton Saints, England St George 7s, Welsh Warriors, London Scottish, Cambridge University, Blackheath and many more quality sides.

Many of the participating teams' well known international stars will be on show on during the day.
