IT Crowd star Richard Ayoade is tipped to replace Mel and Sue on the Great British Bake Off, according to national media reports.

It is believed the former St Joseph’s College pupil’s quirky sense of humour could land him a presenting job on the hit show when it moves to Channel 4.

Current presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins said last month they would not be following the show when it switches channels.

On Friday night 2015 winner Nadiya Hussain confirmed she would not be replacing judge Mary Berry – who also turned down a fresh contract with Channel 4.

Reports Mr Ayoade could be a frontrunner in the race to replace Mel and Sue come just weeks after claims Delia Smith was in the running to take Mary Berry’s judging job.

Mr Ayoade’s agent has not yet responded to our requests for comment.
