A weather warning for strong winds across the region has been issued.
The yellow warning from the Met Office is in place for large parts of the country, including Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, from 9am on Wednesday and 7am on Thursday.
The warning states: “Gusts of 65 to 70mph are expected along exposed coasts and over high ground such as the mountains of Wales, the Moors of South West England and the Pennines.
“Gusts of 50mph are likely more widely. Winds will gradually ease from the west during the night, finally easing from the far South East of England around dawn on Thursday.
“Outbreaks of rain, some of it heavy, will accompany the strong winds and will add to the difficult driving conditions.”
People have also been warned of disruption to road, rail, air and ferry transport.
A spokesman for Highways England said: “There are not any plans to close the Orwell Bridge at present.
“The adverse weather is not supposed to hit until around 10am on Wednesday.
“Obviously we will close the bridge if it becomes dangerous to high-sided vehicles.”
