NEARLY a quarter of a century after a letter was sent to them, county council bureaucrats have got round to sending a reply!

Sadly the man who wrote the letter in 1978 was unable to read the reply because he died 15 years ago.

Staff at Suffolk County Council have apologised for the blunder and said they were unable to check if correspondents still lived at the same address. They added they were now replying to mail that had built up over the years.

George Fuller wrote to the council 24 years ago about a footpath being upgraded to a bridleway.

This week the reply from the council landed on the doormat of the family who have been living in Mr Fuller's former house for the last 11 years.
