The first female firefighter in the UK shared her experiences of life on the front line of emergency services with a special talk at Ipswich Library.
Josephine Reynolds became the first full-time female firefighter in 1983, being based at Thetford fire station among others during her career.
Having penned her first book, Fire Woman, which details her experiences in the male-dominated profession, the 52-year-old was at Ipswich Library earlier today to speak to readers and sign copies of her book.
A Suffolk Libraries spokesman said: “Around 16 people enjoyed Jo’s talk, including several from the library’s monthly BooksFizz reading group.
“People found her story very interesting and inspiring there were several questions at the end.”
Ms Reynolds will return to the county for a talk at Newmarket Library on Thursday, November 9, from 10.30am.
