A YOUNG majorettes troupe is celebrating a collection of wins at its first competition of the season just 18 months after it was first formed.

The Hadleigh Comets were competing in the first major competition of the Yorkshire Dance Twirl Association and scooped first place in all three categories (tiny tots, junior and senior) of the pom pom section.

The tiny tots also came first in the baton section and the group leaders also won first places in their section.

The whole group was also awarded the prize for most entertaining troupe of the day.

Trainer Jacqui Neale said the troupe now wanted to compete in competitions throughout Suffolk and Essex, but to do so needed to find a major sponsor to help it buy the military costumes that are required to enter the contests.

Anyone who can help should e-mail Jacqui on Hadcommaj@aol.com or call her on 01449 785802, or 07761 006435.
