SUPER blue or Canary yellow?

One couple from Stowmarket could not be further apart in their support for football teams – so they have decided to be more than 1,000 miles away when their favourite sides clash.

Ipswich Town fan Darren Carter and his Norwich City-supporting fiancee Rachel Goulsonare heading off on holiday to avoid a heated atmosphere during the East Anglian derby at Portman Road.

But the duo from Drinkstone, near Stowmarket, will be decking out a bar in Majorca in yellow and blue – and Rachel has threatened to get the first plane home if there is any gloating should Ipswich win.

Darren, 31, a civil engineer, said: "We knew we would miss the game when we booked the holiday – and that was part of the reason why we did it. This way, we can get away from it all and it saves family arguments.

"But I checked ahead to make sure there was somewhere we could watch the game and I'll be cheering Town on. I'm hoping it will be another 5-0 and I think I'll have to gloat a little if we win. We've been winding each other up about it."

Carrow Road season ticketholder Rachel, 29, said it would "make her holiday" if Norwich pulled off a win at Portman Road. "I would be on top of the world," she added.

"I'm not sure if I would have gone to the game if we had stayed at home – I don't think I could have handled the pressure. It will be nice to get out of the country as it stops things getting too excited."

But if the result goes against her, Rachel warned her other half not to rub it in too much. "I could always get the first plane home," she joked.

Both Rachel and Darren are confident about their team's chances for promotion to the Premiership this year – despite the Canaries suffering two home defeats in a week.
