A WOMAN has hit back over claims made in court that her ex-husband bugged her phone because she was having an affair.

Pearl Duffield was left incensed by his allegations – because she says she has never cheated on anyone.

"I was just so frustrated when his solicitor said that in court. It seems people can say what they like in court without it even being true," said Mrs Duffield.

"I have never had an affair in my life. I have never cheated on anyone.

"This has made me feel so humiliated. The court case brought enough stress without things like this suddenly being said.

"I don't want to get involved in a public row with my ex-husband but I cannot understand him letting his solicitor say such a dreadful thing."

Terence Duffield , of Beach Station Road, Felixstowe, admitted harassment when he appeared before South East Suffolk Magistrates Court. He was fined £300 and ordered to pay £55 costs.

The court was told that he had fitted a recording device to his wife's phone so he could keep tabs on who she spoke to.

Mrs Duffield though said they were already divorced at the time he fitted the device, which was contrary to the information given to the court.

"We were already divorced, so how could I be having an affair in any case? If I was seeing someone else, that was my business and was certainly not an affair," she added.
