POLICE have today named the man who died in a horrific road smash near Woodbridge on Monday.

Ian Wright, 47, of Howard Close, Framlingham, became the 41st victim on Suffolk's roads this year when his Yamaha motorcycle collided with a Rover car at the Bredfield and Ufford junction on the A12, near Woodbridge shortly after 7pm.

The driver of the dark blue and green Rover, a 50-year-old woman, was taken to Ipswich Hospital suffering shock and minor injuries.

It is believed the Rover was pulling out on to the A12 from the Bredfield Road when the accident happened.

One other car, a Ford Mondeo travelling behind the motorcyclist, ploughed into the wreckage after the initial impact.

As well as police and ambulance services, fire crews from Ipswich and Woodbridge helped cut free the body of the motorcyclist.

Traffic police are appealing for any witnesses to the accident to contact Pc Phil Brown on 01473 613500.

The county's roads claimed their 42nd victim of the year today when a woman died in a three-vehicle accident at Little Wratting, near Haverhill.
