Students gained exclusive insights into the growing creative media industry at an event at the University of Suffolk.

Exhibitors provided hands-on sessions to youngsters aged over 16 considering a career in public relations, social or digital media, graphic design, film production and other creative media roles.

Penny Arbuthnot, director of Genesis PR, which hosted the event, said: “Here in Suffolk and the wider East of England region, there has been a strong growth in creative employment opportunities, demonstrating that students don’t have to go to the big cities to find success.”

The university also exhibited a range of degree programmes.

Laura Locke, senior lecturer at the University of Suffolk’s Business School, said: “The event offered exciting opportunities for students to engage with businesses and consider the opportunities for their career development.”

Exhibitors at the event included: Genesis PR, East Anglian Daily Times and Ipswich Star publisher Archant; Trinity Park Events, Yellobelly, Fred. Olsen, Sanctuary Personnel, Summer Isle Films, James Fletcher Photographer, Ginger Nut Media, Simple By Designs and the Public Relations & Communications Association (PRCA).
