Crews called to factory yard blaze

A HUGE plume of thick, black smoke rose into the sky today as tyres in a factory yard went up in flames.The fire, at Global Tyres, on the Debach airfield, started shortly after 6am this morning and around 40 firefighters were quickly called to the scene by factory workers.

The fire, at Global Tyres, on the Debach airfield, started shortly after 6am this morning and around 40 firefighters were quickly called to the scene by factory workers.

Fireman Dave Pedersen, said: "No-one was caught inside but we will probably be here for a large part of the day putting the fire out. Crews have worked very hard to ensure the fire is contained."
