Firefighters rescued a resident and their dog from a house fire in Whitland Close yesterday afternoon.

Four fire crews from Princes Street, Holbrook and Ipswich East were called to reports a house in Stoke Park Drive was on fire – with a person and a dog still inside.

They used two sets of breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and one covering jet to extinguish the fire, and managed to rescue the resident and their pet.

Police and ambulance crews were also on the scene, but the area was made safe by 5.12pm.

The extent of the occupants’ injuries are not yet known.
