FIRE chiefs believe an undergrowth fire in Ipswich today may have been started by arsonists.

The blaze broke out in Westbourne Park and spread across five metres of undergrowth.

Firefighters from Princes Street station were called to tackle the fire at around 5.20pm.

They used one hose to control the flames and the area was declared safe again shortly after 5.30pm.

A spokesman for the fire service said the cause of the blaze is being treated as suspicious.
