It didn't work, and today brothers Mark Baigent, 25, of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, James Baigent, 30, of Camberley, Surrey, and their friend Jeff Woods, 36, of Bracknell, Berks, were convicted of murdering 35 year-old Andrew Scanlan following a trial at Cambridge Crown Court.
All three had denied murder.
