POLICE in Essex are appealing for witnesses after a collision in Harwich left a cyclist died.
The crash, which occurred at about 8.30pm last night, involved a white Iveco articulated lorry and a pedal cycle.
The 53-year-old male driver from Witham was involved in a collision with a pedal cycle which was being ridden by a 20-year-old woman.
The crash happened on the A120 near Phoenix Bridge.
The woman, who is from Harwich, was taken by ambulance to Colchester General Hospital where she later died.
Both vehicles were travelling towards Harwich when the collision occurred.
The road was closed for five hours for initial investigations to be carried out and for vehicle recovery.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw the incident or with information to contact them at Stanway road policing unit on 0300 333 4444.
