A CYCLIST is fighting for his life today after being involved in a collision with a car that left him stranded on the car's roof.The 20-year-old victim, who is from the Woodbridge area, was taken to Ipswich Hospital last night after being involved in an accident at around 7pm in Felixstowe Road, Martlesham.

A CYCLIST is fighting for his life today after being involved in a collision with a car that left him stranded on the car's roof.

The 20-year-old victim, who is from the Woodbridge area, was taken to Ipswich Hospital last night after being involved in an accident at around 7pm in Felixstowe Road, Martlesham.

Paramedics attended the scene and called for assistance from the fire service to help stabilise the car lower the unconscious victim down from the roof.

The driver of the Mazda 323, which is registered to a local man, was breathalysed as a precaution following the accident but this proved negative.

Police, who were informed of the accident by paramedics, closed the road while the fire service and paramedics worked together to treat the man. He was conveyed to hospital at around 7.30pm with injuries that are said to be serious.
