TROUBLED teen Danielle Burt is no angel, but mum Michelle insists she is not a one-girl crime wave.

The 14-year-old has been singled out as the root cause of violence and vandalism in Cowper Street, Ipswich.

But Mrs Burt said her daughter had been branded unfairly and claimed her family had suffered more than most at the hands of troublemakers.

She said: "Danielle is not a saint or an angel, but we're being blamed for all the trouble in the street and it's not our fault.

"I've had my car damaged and stones thrown through my window. I'm having to pay money out to repair my stuff too."

Cowper Street has become a battlefield for gangs of youths, sometimes dozens strong.

Following a large-scale incident in June 30, young thugs were put on the Youth Nuisance Register by Ipswich Police.

Reports from other residents suggest the Burt house has become a gathering point for the yobs.

But Mrs Burt insists the youths are not welcome either inside or outside her home.

She said: "I don't want gangs of lads hanging around outside my house and neither does my daughter.

"What can I do? I've called the police on numerous occasions but they can't do anything apart from move them on.

"It's not my daughter's fault that these children are on the street."

She said: "She's very argumentative and will always stand her ground if someone challenges her.

"I know she can be lippy, but she'll just shout and swear and then walk away. She's not a violent or a vengeful child, that's just not her.

"She's not out there fighting because she's the biggest wuss going.

"People say she's out of control, but if she's out of control why isn't she on the nuisance list?

"I've spoken to doctors and social services, but I'm just banging my head against a brick wall.

"My doctor says she's just a normal 14-year-old girl."

Mrs Burt said she was determined to continue letting her daughter invite friends round to the house, despite complaints their presence was attracting groups of rowdy lads.

He said: "Why should I kick my daughter out? At least this way I know where she is and what she's doing?
