PROPOSALS to switch Suffolk's day care centres from local authority control into the private or voluntary sector were being debated again today.
The full meeting of Suffolk County Council was re-examining the decision to transfer day-care to other organisations which was taken by its cabinet earlier this year.
The call-in was forced by the Liberal Democrat group at Endeavour House.
The council, which has an overall Conservative majority, was expected to endorse the original decision.
That would allow council officers to restart discussions with outside bodies about the future provision of daycare.
If the changes go through the council will effectively pay outside bodies like charities or other organisations to provide daycare centres for elderly people and adults with disabilities.
