RUSH-HOUR motorists faced lengthy delays on the A14 for the second time in the same day after a collision on the Orwell Bridge.
After a morning of headaches for drivers using the bridge yesterday when a van and a car collided, motorists tackling the afternoon rush-hour faced a similar nightmare when two cars collided on the Felixstowe-bound carriageway.
The second accident, just before 5.30pm, was between an orange Peugeot 106 and a green Vauxhall Zafira.
Police received a report of a ladder being seen in the road shortly before the accident and said they would be investigating if it played a part in the collision.
The bridge was partially blocked while the scene was cleared, leading to tailbacks in the busy afternoon traffic as workers tried to get home for the weekend.
The first accident of the day happened at about 8am when a Hyundai panel van and an Audi car collided. Tailbacks stretched beyond Copdock and diversions were put in place.
