A body of a man has been recovered from an Ipswich home after a passerby smelt a bad odour coming from within.

Officers were sent to a property that is used as a house share in Grimwade Street around 1.40pm yesterday where they discovered the body.

A spokesman for Suffolk Constabulary said the death was bring treated as unexplained but not suspicious.

Shezzard, who works at Emeny News on the corner of Grimwade Street, said he was “totally shocked” by what had happened.

“I know all the people around here because they come in the shop and laugh and joke with me,” he added.

“How could this be? Everything was normal yesterday - that has really surprised me.

“I never thought something like this could happen here.”

Mother-of-one Jade Mayes, 17, who lives in a block of flats opposite where the body was found, said she was not concerned by the death.

“My first impression was just someone had passed away,” she added.

Roj Nour, 28, who lives just a few doors down from where the body was recovered, said he was not surprised by the news.

“You just feel like something was not right in that house,” he added.

Mr Nour, who has a four-year-old and one-year-old, said it was still shocking to have it happen on his doorstep.
