Deer causes man to be seriously hurt

A DEER is believed to have caused a road crash that has left a Suffolk man seriously ill in hospital.

Police are today appealing for witnesses to the accident, which involved one vehicle only, in the village of Chillesford at 11.

Police are today appealing for witnesses to the accident, which involved one vehicle only, in the village of Chillesford at 11.30pm on Saturday.

According to police reports, the driver of a Red Escort Turbo is believed to have lost control after a deer ran across the road as it travelled towards Orford.

Fire crews cut free a man from the wreckage and took him to Ipswich Hospital.

Brian Shemmings, of Hollesley, was taken Ipswich Hospital and has since been transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable.

Two other people were taken to Ipswich Hospital and were today named as James Seatory, 22, of Sutton Heath, near Woodbridge, and Ricki Woolnough, of Chillesford. Their injuries were believed to be light.
