ESCAPING to the jungle may well seem like a good idea for Delia Smith with her beloved Norwich City currently lying in last place in the Championship table.

ESCAPING to the jungle may well seem like a good idea for Delia Smith with her beloved Norwich City currently lying in last place in the Championship table.

But TV viewers hoping to see the legendary cook feasting on bugs and sleeping rough on the popular reality show, I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! are about to be disappointed.

Delia's agent Debbie Owen has dismissed showbiz rumours linking the Canaries' majority shareholder to the latest series of the show, due to air next month, as “absolutely” wrong.

She said: “I don't know who's running this but it's so funny.

“She gets approached all the time to do things like Celebrity Big Brother.

“I cannot remember if they (the producers of I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!) approached her but it's just not her in anyway. It's not the sort of thing she would ever consider doing.”

The culinary queen, who lives near Stowmarket, is one of a number of celebrities who have been rumoured to have been approached by makers of the show, presented by Ant and Dec.

Others include Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty, Right Said Fred's Richard Fairbrass, entertainer Michael Barrymore and former Hollyoaks beauty Gemma Atkinson.

A spokeswoman for ITV said the names of the contestants were not released until the day the programme went out.
