Demolition work is set to get underway at a site of empty buildings as part of work to build 17 new council homes.
The empty buildings in Cauldwell Hall Road, Ipswich were once homes before being made into a school and even a worship centre over the years.
The site will be developed for rental properties comprising 15 two-bed houses, a single one-bed flat and a bungalow.
The work is among eight other small sites being prepared for development, and follows work on new council properties in Widgeon Close and Ainslie Road.
Ipswich Borough Council housing portfolio holder Neil MacDonald said: “We will be starting work here at the end of August and hope to welcome tenants in to the new homes by Christmas 2019.
“Developing small sites not only complements our larger council house-building programme - it also improves local communities by replacing often derelict sites with new homes for rent.
“We have an ambitious target to build affordable homes and the best way we can achieve that is by building them ourselves.
“We want to help people who cannot get on the property ladder or afford private rents to have a quality home.”
