DEPRESSION drove a child porn criminal who was found hanging in his garage, to kill himself, a coroner ruled today.

The body of Christopher Venis, 48, of Low Road, Earl Soham, was found on September 25 – the day he was due to appear in court to be sentenced.

Around half the pictures that Venis had were at the higher end of the scale and classed as Level Four images showing penetrative sex between adults and children.

The inquest of the artificial limb salesman was held at Lowestoft Magistrates Court today, where statements were read, and a verdict of taking his own life while suffering from severe depression, was recorded.

In September, the Star reported how Suffolk police said they regretted the death of Venis,

TVR owner Venis and his wife Alison, 36, who did not have any children, moved to Earl Soham about a year ago from Bildeston.

His arrest for child pornography offences was a complete shock to neighbours.
