POLICE have today issued a description of the man wanted in relation to a sex attack in Suffolk.

A woman was sexually assaulted as she walked from her home in Martlesham Heath down Felixstowe Road towards Martlesham village.

She had just walked past the Martlesham Community Centre (on her left) and was passing the entrance to the car park opposite (on the right) when a man approached her.

He grabbed hold of her and forced her into a nearby wooded area, along the footpath towards Newbourne Road, where he sexually assaulted her.

The attacker is described as a white man, aged in his mid to late 30s, between 5ft 8ins and 6ft tall, with medium length curly ginger hair and a short ginger beard.

He was wearing light blue jeans, which were faded down the front, dark brown lace-up boots and a dark coloured sleeved top.

The victim, who is a white woman, was attacked between 9.30am and 10.30am on Friday.

Detective Inspector Rick Munns said: "This is a very well-used area. The car park is used by dog walkers and many people cut through along Felixstowe Road between Martlesham village and Martlesham Heath industrial park and the Tesco store.

"The offender has a very distinctive description. I would appeal for anyone who was in the area on Friday morning, who may have seen a man with ginger hair and a ginger beard to contact the police immediately."

Yesterday police were out in force in the Martlesham on the hunt for clues.

Anyone with information about the attack should contact Suffolk police on 01473 613500 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
