BAGGIES boss Roberto Di Matteo has backed Roy Keane to drag Ipswich away from the bottom three.

Di Matteo feels there is better to come from the Blues. “I don't think Ipswich are a poor team. They have had a poor start but remember many teams have been in this position before when they were near bottom but went on to get promoted.

“There are 42 games to go so there is a long, hard season still to come.”

Despite winning 2-0 and dominating for the most part Di Matteo felt his team deserve credit rather than focusing on Town's frailties.

He said: “When you play really well the opposition doesn't look as good. But if you look at their team, they have a good team but we played very well.

“We made it difficult for them by moving the ball around nicely and were dangerous with a lot of players getting chances.

“Three points and a clean sheet - it was very good performance by us.

“It could have been more but Richard Wright is a very good goalkeeper and he had a good afternoon.”

The Bagges lost their skipper Jonathan Greening to Fulham but Di Matteo insists life goes on.

He added: “The boys did very well to play so well and beat Ipswich without Jonathan but you have to move on. It is like when you split up with your girlfriend - you have to move on.

“I would have loved him to stay. He is a big player but it was the right decision for the club and player.”
