Detective Superintendent David Cutler said his team are looking through diaries, letters and her recent social media activity as concern for her welfare grows.

Making a direct appeal to Kennedy today, he urged the teenager to get in touch – saying her family and police are desperate to hear from her.

This morning the 15-year-old’s anguished family pleaded with her to return home after revealing concerns about her use of the internet.

Her mother Nicola said she had in the past been worried about Kennedy’s online contacts, but police said they are not focusing in on any particular lines of enquiry yet.

Their priority is finding Kennedy safe and well.

Det Supt Cutler said: “We are looking at all lines of enquiry at this early stage, finding Kennedy is our main focus and we will not stop until we find her.

“We are looking through who Kennedy spoke to on social media, searching diaries and letters with the help of her family to try and find out who she may have been in contact with.

“House to house searches are also taking place, for example some of Kennedy’s friends houses.

“We had the helicopter out yesterday and Suffolk and Lowland Search and Rescue have also been searching for her, particularly on her route to and from Kesgrave High School and the Grange Farm area.

He added: “I sincerely hope we are not sitting here in the same position tomorrow and that we have found her.”

Speaking outside Suffolk Constabulary’s headquarters today, he put out a direct appeal for help.

“My appeal today is two-fold, one is to Kennedy,” he said.

“Kennedy, if you are seeing this, if you are hearing it, if you are seeing this story in a newspaper or on social media, please make contact.

“Make contact with your parents, make contact with us, with a friend, please let us know you are okay. Your parents are desperate to hear from you and we are too.

“My second appeal is to members of the public. We put a description out of Kennedy.

“She has got a unique style with her haircut, so please if you think you have seen Kennedy or if you see Kennedy going forward, please make contact with us and let us know.”
