It happened in Stone Lodge Lane, just off Belstead Road, at 12.55pm today and involved a black Mercedes.

Officers arrived to find the vehicle badly damaged but with no occupants in the car.

They searched the area and subsequently arrested a 23-year-old man from Ipswich on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and aggravated taking of a vehicle without consent.

However, Suffolk Constabulary is appealing for witnesses who saw who was driving the car, or the manner in which the car was driven, to come forward.
