IPSWICH: Police say they have had a disappointing response after a shooting at the Caribbean Club on Friday night.

More than 300 people were in the club in Woodbridge Road for an event called 'Bashy Friday' when a man was left with a gun shot wound following a mass brawl in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Despite promising to help protect anyone with vital information, detectives say only 20 revellers have come forward since the event.

Det Chief Insp David Cutler, leading the investigation, said: “I am disappointed at the limited response to our appeals.

“We urgently need anyone who was at the Caribbean Club on Friday night into the early hours of Saturday morning to get in touch.”

Forensic investigators have combed the club since the fight around 4am on Saturday, lifting a police cordon at lunchtime today .

A team of 15 officers from Suffolk Police have also been carrying out house-to-house enquiries, getting victim and witness statements and trawling CCTV.

But appeals for information have been urgently renewed following a lack of feedback from revellers, many of whom were thought to come from London.

Det Chief Insp Cutler added: “They may not think they have anything evidential to offer but every person present at the club that night is a potential witness.”

Anyone who was in the Caribbean Club or in its vicinity between 3am and 5am on Saturday or has any information can contact Ipswich CID on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
