POLICE are appealing for information after an elderly woman was targeted by distraction burglars in Ipswich.

A man called at the 74-year-old's home in Thompson Road claiming he had to turn the water off.

He entered the kitchen and turned the taps on and asked the victim to fill the kettle and clear under the sink.

The pensioner went in to the lounge for a short time and when she returned she found the man had gone. She later discovered money missing from her purse.

The man is described as white, tall, about 17 to 18, with short fair hair. He was clean-shaven and not scruffily dressed.
