POLICE are today appealing for information after a man, who said he needed to come in and turn off the boiler, is believed have stolen cash and cards from a Suffolk property.

POLICE are today appealing for information after a man, who said he needed to come in and turn off the boiler, is believed have stolen cash and cards from a Suffolk property.

A man knocked on the door of a property in School Field, Glemsford around 5.20pm today.

He said he was doing some work at a neighbouring property and needed to turn off the boiler.

But police received reports that the man took a black leather bag, which contained bank cards and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man was described as white and of slim build, was believed to be in his early 20s and was thought to be wearing jeans and a T-shirt, which was possibly navy blue.

He left the address on foot, but there were also reports of a large dark-coloured saloon leaving the area at speed and heading towards Hartest.

A spokesman for Suffolk police said distraction burglars are operating in the area. He said people are advised to be vigilant and should call 999 if they see anything suspicious.
