EX-ENGLAND manager Graham Taylor has today said he is looking forward to his role as patron of an Ipswich-based dance organisation.

The Ipswich-based DanceEast Academy - the government's new Centre for Advanced Training in Dance for the region which is due to open in September - has secured the services of the 63-year-old who will act as patron for the organisation, alongside world-famous dancer Tamara Rojo, principal with the Royal Ballet.

The move comes after Mr Taylor developed an interest in dance after speaking at the DanceEast leadership conference earlier this year and taking a crash course in dance appreciation.

Speaking exclusively to The Evening Star, Mr Taylor said: “I am really looking forward to working with the young people who are lucky enough to become part of the DanceEast Academy.

“Getting to the top is hard work, they will need to be passionate and determined as well as talented but it will be great to see them have the opportunity to do this without having to leave home.

“The DanceEast Academy is going to be a fantastic chance for anyone who really wants to become a great professional dancer one day.”

The DanceEast Academy is today looking for youngsters who would like to become professional dancers.

If you are aged between 10-14 in September and love to dance come along and find out more about the DanceEast Academy at a special Open Day for young people and their parents.
